design 2005 – 2006 | little italy | san diego.ca | with ARCHITECTS hgw
This mixed-use project included a 4-unit apartment tower addition to an existing 1960′s office building in Little Italy. The tower addition melded two goals from the landscape architect/client, a succulent inspired design with a mid-century flare. The proposal was to make a modern glass tower that would become an icon along Interstate 5 and capture views of the bay down Fir Street. To avoid overheating, high-performing glass and a simple “CACTI-INSPIRED” corrugated metal skin help keep the addition unique + cool.
